Alton E. Nelson, 82, a Haines resident for- many years, died September 17 in Hallock, Minnesota. He moved to Haines in 1945 to operate the hardware store and bulk fuel plant owned by his uncle, Erik Oslund. He served on the school board and was a volunteer fireman. He donated land on Sawmill Road to be used as a ball park. His wife, Minnie, survives. [Feb1981]
